Heros Don’t Ask Why

I had a very nice surprise in my inbox today. An email from a band in finland, a new startup, less than 2 years old, but with the sound of a matured stage band;

Heroes Don’t Ask Why is a Finnish rock metal band formed in 2015. In the spring 2016 line-up was finished in its current form with a drummer Kimmo Puhakka taking his place behind the drum kit. The music that followed was melodic divorce metal with a rock attitude. All things advanced rapidly and first self-titled six song album was released in December 2016.

Twin-guitar attack by cousins Jussi Pajunpää and Matias Kaunisvesi is both aggressive and in the next moment, mellow melancholic bluesy flow of notes. There’s a clear hint of a Scandinavian metal roots but with added quest for a tender guitar work.

The first track I heard of theirs was “Seen it All”, it gave an honest sound of what they are capable whilst still realising the true artistic fashion of music not having to be 100% perfect to be enjoyable.

Their album was recorded, mixed and mastered at watercastle studio in Punkaladun, Finland last year (2016) by Arttu Sarvanne.

Heroes Don’t Ask Why consist of Jussi Pajunpää on guitar/vocals, Matias Kaunisvesi on guitar/backing vocals, Jussi Kivioja on bass/backing vocals and Kimmo Puhakka on drums

I honestly couldn’t rate this band high enough and as a startup feel they could go far. Whilst they have a heavy rock feel don’t let that put you off as you can still hear every chord of the music, deep guttural throat vocals to melodical verse.
